Brisbane is a bit of an uninspiring city for interesting architecture. So as a hobbyist urban sketcher, I am always on the lookout for unusual buildings to capture.
I drive past this tiny little wooden chapel almost every day. It’s dwarfed by a huge, abandoned power station. I wonder how many people truly notice it. I certainly almost never see any church congregation going in and out, and after wandering up to take a look at the noticeboard, I see why. There is only one session a week. The rest of the week, the building stands quiet and unused. But it is beautifully kept and a very neat little chapel. I hope this little place of worship doesn’t get pulled down. So many churches are turning to these big modern soulless structures that resemble suburban homes, totally boring and nothing to look at. I wonder what this little chapel looks like on the inside.
