Cute face

A sketching acquaintance of mine has two “teenage” alpacas, and recently got them shaved. She posted a photo of their new thinner selves, and I was so taken by how goofy they looked that I simply had to sketch them. I wish I had the space to have a couple of these as pets! But as my OH says, I have way too many animals already, so I guess not. Anyway, don’t you think the fellow above looks like he has a crazy perm?

My very irreverent OH thinks the alpaca has an uncanny resemblance to the late singer Prince. What do you think? I think it’s the pursed lips and long eye lashes.

Close by my home, there is a large Buddhist temple on an acreage, and occasionally I see a couple of mature alpacas gambolling around. They don’t appear to have been shaved. I wonder how they cope with the extremely hot and humid Brisbane summers?

I once bought some lovely lavender grey alpaca yarn from a lady off my face book mum’s group, and it was wonderfully soft, with none of the scratchiness that comes with pure wool. I’m still in the middle of crocheting a long shawl with it. Hopefully I will be able to finish it by NEXT winter. My OH says I have too many interests, and I will be the first to admit that I am not the best at finishing off my yarn projects.Got a few UFOs lying in my craft room….
